Megan Gilligan
Education: Miami of Ohio- BFA in Interior Design, Masters of Product Development, Carnegie Mellon
Prof Exp: 5 years architecture, 2 years interior design, 5 yrs in product design and development
Megan has a reputation for wildly imaginative ideas that tightly tie back to the established concept. She is a collaborative, improvisational designer, like a jazz musician riffing off others in the creative moment.
Meaning is also central to Megan’s design sensibilities. “I worked at an architecture firm where every reception desk was the same in all the buildings. I hated that. HMARQ would never do anything that repeats. Each project is meaningful to the context and the client. I love the integrity that we bring to the work.”
On any given project, Megan, along with Emily or Heidi, may lead the concepting and design development phase and oversee the construction process. As a product designer, she also designs one-of-a-kind custom accessories and artwork for the space.
“Interior Design has a powerful effect on people. I’ve seen it happen; it’s like putting on rose colored glasses. People can see new possibilities because they’ve been inspired by how an HMARQ space made them feel.”
